1 mile run - Treadmill
Today it was raining and I can't stand the treadmill, but I had to get in my one mile so the dreadmill it was.
"Christmas Past"
While I was doing my run I started to think about Christmas. I know that everyone already knows that I am the Clark W. Griswald of Hattiesburg, but I thought about how much I absolutely LOVE Christmas. I mean I really love it! Everything about it. I love decorating my house, buying presents for my family, how nice people are during the holidays and most importantly how my daughters eyes light up with the awe inspiring sights and should that Christmas brings.
There are two people that I must take a moment to thank for this love that I have for Christmas. Mom and Dad I want to say thank you for this passion that you shared we me and my brothers while we were growing up. You gave us so many traditions that we will pass on to our children. What you have taught us will live on forever.
(Bob, me, Russ)
My mom and dad were never rich people, but the one thing that they always went all out on was Christmas. I'm not saying that we got all of the big expensive presents that people get on Christmas Day. We did get what they could afford and I got some really great stuff growing up, but more importantly they gave me the best gift I could ever receive. They gave me a warm loving home and the passion for Christmas. My parents didn't skimp on the amount of fun you could have on Christmas. My dad taught me everything I needed to know about exterior illumination. I do have to say that I have surpassed anything that we ever tried on Glenview Lane, but to this day I can't decorate the outside of my house unless it's cold outside and I have a cup of coffee just like my dad did. My mom took care of the inside of the house. She made it so warm and cozy. She made our home a place of love with beautiful lights, decorations and the delicious smell of snicker doodle filling the air. Mmmmmm I can taste it now.
(Bob, me and dad)
Christmas morning was always amazing. We were not ever allowed to put any presents under the tree until Christmas Eve night after we went to midnight mass and were about to go to bed. Even then we couldn't put them under the tree. We had to stack them for Santa Clause to put around the tree when he came. It was amazing to see the tree lit up on Christmas morning with all of the presents neatly placed under the tree! Words can't explain the feeling that would come over me on Christmas morning when I would see those shiny wrapped presents glistening under the tree!
(Go ahead, make fun of the glasses)
I think back to my parents every Christmas and how I remember seeing the joy on their faces and the love in their eyes for me and my brothers. They didn't care what they got for Christmas, no, their presents were watching us enjoy the day. As a parent now I know exactly how they felt.
(My dad loved some tinsel)
So, this week we pack up all of the lights and all of the Christmas love. We pack all of it up with extra special care so that nothing breaks. We put it all away for another year, but we never pack away the memories that we have made. Those stay with us forever. Jenny and I have an amazing daughter who we will pass our traditions to. We will pass on the love and the laughter that comes with this wonderful season.
Thanks mom and dad for teaching me these valuable lessons. All of the presents that I received over the years were great, but my memories are even better. They will last forever.
(My beautiful mother. Thanks for the memories mom. I love you! Merry Christmas)

3 mile run - Lake Serene
58 degrees 60% humidity
Great run this morning. Beautiful weather makes it easy to run. We've started packing up Christmas decorations. Makes me sad. It's amazing how much different my house looks without Christmas lights and a Christmas tree. It's kind of sad, but it makes me feel better when I think about what is to come in the new year. It's a new year to change things that you've always wanted to change. Wipe clean the old slate and start over a new.
I was burning some old wood today and decided to throw on the Christmas tree. Whoooooa! I didn't expect this!
Eric and I went out for a little booze cruise this afternoon. Beautiful sky.
Finished my day watching one last Christmas movie with my best friend. Isn't she stunning?!
And we just sit back and watch her big imagination soak it all in.

(Can you tell that I'm not happy about this weather?!)
Ran today in what is hopefully the last no shirt, hot and humid run of the year! According to the weather channel there will be a cold front moving through tonight and we will finally be back to the weather that we are use to for December. It just better stick around for awhile.
Started packing up Christmas decorations today. There are two times of the year that I hate the most. 1 - packing up Christmas. 2 - leaving Ft. Wilderness at the end of our 4th of July trip. Those are the two most depressing days of the year for me.

Well it still feels like summer. Maybe winter will show its face sooner or later this year. We went to the country for the Wigington family Christmas today.
Watched Southern Miss play in their first Bowl game in probably 4 years. We didn't win, but it was nice to see them in a Bowl game again. SMTTT!

Yep that's right 70 degrees at 8:00 in the morning. Humid and nasty. Seriously feels like running during the summer. When I was growing up in Florida these types of days were normal during Christmas. Now that I have lived where it's cold during Christmas, this just makes me mad. And what's even worse, they are forecasting 79 degrees for Christmas Day! Well, we will have to do what mom always did on Christmas. Turn the air way down in the morning and pretend it's cold outside.
Oh well, tonight we went to the Forsyth's house for the annual Cookies with Santa! Ruby loved it. She told Santa that she wanted a pink pumpkin for Christmas. Lol.

I love my family. Jenny made small Christmas goodie bags for Ruby to put in the mailboxes of everyone on our street. Jenny is teaching her how be caring and thoughtful. Have I mentioned how much I love Christmas?! Little things like this melt my heart. I have two very special girls in my house.

Good mile run this morning. My back is still bothering me. Every morning when I wake up its bad. I have had to deal with back pain for a long time in my life. It sucks. Been doing only a mile a day to see if it will help a little. I think that I am going to try to do a little more tomorrow.

Run complete! Time to get ready for work! LAST DAY UNTIL THE NEW YEAR! This is what makes my job even more amazing than it already is.
Ruby's day care lady, Nanny Cat, took her and the other kids to see Santa Claus today. This is so sweet to me. Ruby is so excited about Christmas this year. I love it!

MUCH better weather this morning. My back is still sore, but not as bad as yesterday. I'm really not too sure why it's hurting. All I can think of is that maybe I slept wrong and it is strained a bit. Whatever I did, it sure makes my runs tough. Keep pushing through it and keep the streak alive. This may hurt my chances of being able to do the Mississippi Blues Half Marathon. We will see what happens.
Went out with my work friends to celebrate the last late night of work!

Woke up this morning with some of the worst lower back pain that I've had since I was 18 and broke a bone in my back playing baseball. I couldn't run this morning, so I decided to go to work and see if I could run this afternoon. When I got home Jenny wanted to go for a run. I'm glad she did because it made me have to run today. I was sore the whole time, but running with her and Ruby helped me push through it and keep the streak going. Thank you Jenny and Ruby.

Ahhhhhhh she's smiling again. Did this part of the bus this weekend. Almost finished with the outside. And yes, you are seeing 70 degrees at 6:30 in the morning in December. This is the craziest weather I've ever seen in Mississippi in December.

I didn't run until about noon today. The weather is absolutely ridiculous for December. According to the weather channel we are about 20 degrees above average weather temperature for this time of the year.
Jenny and Ruby went to meet BB for lunch. I'm glad that they get to share these sweet moments with each other. I wish we were closer to my parents so they could share these times with us more.

I got my stitches out of my neck today! The doctor said that he did get all of the cancer! Don't have to worry about that spot anymore.
Worked on the front of the bus today. Hopefully I'll have all of the front finished by the end of the weekend. She's starting to look really good.

Great run this morning. Beautiful weather! I know it says 100% humidity, but it really felt great out there this morning. I guess because the temperature was so good today. Who knows, maybe I was just feeling it this morning. Sometimes you just have a good run.
What a big girl! First time ever riding a bike.

A beautiful morning for a run. I wish I would have got up a little earlier so that I could do more than a mile. The sun rise was pretty and the weather was simply amazing. This run made me look forward to the day even more. It's my long day at work, but I'm going to make the best out of it! Let's get this day started.
Did more work to the side of the bus today. Almost half finished with the outside of her.

Not a bad run this morning. I am still tired from the surgery on my neck. I haven't been sleeping the best. I'm ready to get back to my normal training schedule.
These pictures are from Sunday evening. We had the children's choir sing at church for the decorating of the church Christmas tree. These are the moments that I will cherish forever.

Day 7 - Jeremiah 33:14-16
14 ""The days are coming,' declares the Lord,' when I will fulfill the good promise that I made to the people of Israel and Judah. 15 "In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land. 16 In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called: The Lord Our Righteous Savior.'

Tonight's work on the rear. I still have a long way to go. It will never be a show car, but it will be beautiful.

Day 6 - Isaiah 52:7-10
7 How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news, who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, "Your God reigns!"
8 Listen! Your watchmen lift up their voices; together they shout of joy. When the Lord returns to Zion, they will see it in their own eyes. 9 Burst into songs of joy together, you ruins of Jerusalem, for the Lord has comforted his people, he has redeemed Jerusalem. 10 The Lord will lay bare his holy arm in the sight of all nations, and all the ends of the earth will see the salvation of our God.

I'm so excited to be posting this today! It's been a rough 4 years of football for my Golden Eagles. They have fought their way back to the top and will be playing for the conference championship this morning. Time to go get in my run and get ready for this wonderful day. It's great to be a Golden Eagle. SMTTT!
Bandage off of where my skin cancer was removed. This is the first time I have seen how big of a spot was cut out. Ouch! Pretty nasty. Hopefully this does not become a norm.
Southern Miss lost today, but I'm still proud of them for turning this team around. It's been a great season to watch, and we still have one more game to watch. Now to wait and see what bowl we get to go to. After the game we all went out for a pontoon boat ride. It was a little chilly, but a beautiful day.

Day 5 - Isaiah 40:1-5
1 Comfort, comfort my people, says your God. 2 Speak tenderly to Jerusalem, and proclaim to her that her hard service has been completed, that her sin has been paid for, that she has received the Lord's hand double for all of her sins. 3 A voice of one calling: "In the wilderness prepare the way for the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God. Every valley shall be raised up, every mountain and hill made low; the rough ground shall become level, the rugged places a plain. 5 And the glory of the Lord will be revealed, and all people will see it together. For the mouth of the Lord has spoken."

Worked on the bus a little more today. Here are some updated pics!

Well my 25 day streak of two or more miles a day is going to have to come to an end for the next few days. As I said yesterday I had a small skin cancer removed off of my neck and it required stitches. My doctor does not want me to run at all for the next 48 hours so that the stitches do not get messed up and start bleeding. I have decided that I will not push it and do room many miles this weekend, but I am going to get a mile a day in to keep my run streak going. This kind of hurts my long run for this weekend as well. Oh well, just a small bump in the road, but I will keep my run streak going!

Day 4 - Isaiah 11:6-10
6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leaped will lie down with the goat, the calf, the lion and the yearling together; and a child will lead them. 7 The cow will lead with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox. 8 The infant will play near the cobra's den, and the young child will put its hand into the viper's nest. 9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the Lord as the waters cover the sea. 10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his resting place will be glorious.
