1.5 miles - Treadmill
Another treadmill day down. It's seriously 100 degrees outside today, not fun. Ready for cooler weather. Going to hang out at Eric's house later today and smoke some Turkey breasts. Should be a pretty good day. Just have to beat this heat and these "dog days" of summer. This picture was taken today after my run. Ruby and I were laying on the couch watching "George Christmas," yep I know it's August, while Jenny went grocery shopping. My life kicks ass.
Had some fun today making these during my break after the run. I love the weekend!
Too much fun......

1 mile - Treadmill

Another day down. Miles are slow and and only a few here and there, but I'm building slowly. I've hurt myself too much in the past by jumping in and doing too much too fast after a long break. Trying a new approach. Slow and steady. It's nice to be able to run whenever I want to run on a Friday! So today is my Friday day off. After I ran I decided to put down the wood floors in my VW Bus. This running blog is becoming more about life than running, but oh well.

2 miles - Treadmill

1st real day of Adult Education was this morning at PRCC. I'm really excited about my new job. Hopefully it will be as good as I'm expecting. Training was great. Today is Thursday, my last work day of the week! One of the many benefits of this new job. Ran after work today, then went to Papito's with Jenny, Ruby, Terri and Jason. Great way to start a weekend!

1 mile - Treadmill

My wife's 32nd birthday is today. I got my run in on the treadmill before she got home from work. I am so happy in my life right now that it's unfair to the rest of the world.
I made her Filet Minion, pasta and broccoli with some good white wine. Great evening with my girls!

1.5 miles - Treadmill

Treadmill run after work today to finish the Shark Week 5 mile challenge. This wasn't my prettiest challenge, but I completed it. Cool hardware from these virtual races. The next one that I'm signing up for is called the Run Now, Beer Later 10k! Yes I'm signing up for that one!!!

1 mile - Treadmill

Here we are, back at it. The rat race begins again. Ruby will be turning 3 in October (insert clichè line here - growing up way too fast) Jenny is still at Columbia Primary School for her 9th year. 3rd year as a guidance counselor. And I am leaving my 4th year as a Columbia High School Wildcat to start a new career as Lead Math Instructor for Adult Education at Pearl River Community College. Wow, life kicked you in the face with change when you least expect it. I seriously couldn't be any more happy with my life than I am now. I had some hard times this summer that turned into a blessing in disguise. I will say this, it changed my outlook on life, and I'm a better person for it. I love my wife and my child more than I ever thought imaginable. Besides that, I have had the best summer that I've had on record.
Here is my list of summer fun:
- Saw Elton John at Jazz Fest in New Orleans
- Got to take pictures at Matt Kearney at the House of Blues in New Orleans.
- Spent my 1st week of summer vacation in Orange Beach, AL. at Mimike's house.
- Saw Dave Matthews Band at the Warf in Orange Beach, AL. And after 90+ shows, I finally got to meet him!
- Had a life changing event that I'll never forget.
- Spent 2 weeks in Florida at my brothers house, but mostly at Walt Disney World. Ruby LOVED it this year! We did 10 days at Ft. Wilderness Campgrounds.
- Was hired on as the Lead Math Instructor for the Adult Education Program at PRCC.
- Saw The Avett Brothers in New Orleans, LA.
- Most importantly, bought my dream car! A 1970 VW Transporter Bus! I can't wait to restore Virginia Whiskey!  AKA Ruby's "Mystery Machine"
I know this post has nothing to do with running, but it really does in the grand scheme of things. But only I understand that. One last pic today to sum up my summer.....

1.5 miles - Treadmill

Seriously, I started this yesterday morning and then broke my toe last night. I still managed to get 1.5 miles in today on the treadmill.

1.5 miles - Treadmill

New month, new job, new outlook on life and faith, new training goals. I think I may try this run 365 and do a mile or more a day for the next year. I've seen a few people do it and I really want to try it. I'm going to keep it pretty quiet for a few weeks and see if I can start making this a habit on my own.
I am officially a PRCC Wildcat as of this morning. I walk away from my job as teacher, coach and anything else that they needed me to do at Columbia High School after 4 good years. The people there will be missed, but I look forward to seeing what the future has in store for me at Pearl River Community College.
My faith and love for my family has never been stronger. Jenny and I have had to forgive each other for some unwise choices that we both have made in the past. We have never been stronger, and my eyes have been opened to the importance of God, faith and family. This has been a great summer. Time for some cooler weather!
